BMS continues build out of new energy team

Independent BMS Group is continuing to build out its new energy division following re-Insurance.com revealed the firm’s ambitions with the hire of former Price Forbes executive James Chicken earlier this year.

In today’s announcement (April 24), BMS confirmed that it has hired energy account executive Richard Force, also from Price Forbes and Kristina Juul, an energy analyst who has previously worked at Alesco and Lockton and most recently i4Intelligence.

When Chicken joins BMS following the completion of his notice period, he will head the new division reporting into BMS director, Ian Gormley.

Chicken will be joined by his former Price Forbes colleague Charlie Bowring, who will chair the unit.

Other hires that have been announced include Miller energy producer Sebastian Graham.

BMS – which is part of the employee-owned Minova Group - has a well-established marine and energy reinsurance practice led by Tim Paske, but little direct energy business.

Gormley said the establishment of an energy division is a key plank of the growth strategy at BMS.

”We have identified substantial opportunities in the sector, as demand from clients grows for a broker that will provide sharp, tailored and focused solutions to the risks they face,” Gormely said.

“We are assembling a growing team of recognised market leaders as part of our expansion into the energy sector, and I am delighted that such high-calibre individuals as Kristina and Richard will form part of our expert team,” he added.
