Kemper expects return to UW profit by end of 2023 despite Q1 losses

Auto-focused insurer Kemper has reported a widening in its Q1 operating loss, as pre-announced catastrophe losses and adverse development, as well as higher-than-expected frequency, resulted in deteriorations in combined ratios to 112.1 percent for specialty property casualty and 116.6 percent for preferred property casualty.
