Coombes tops Gracechurch aviation broker poll while De Prins leads marine ranking
Gallagher’s Paul Coombes has been named this year’s leading aviation broker in the London’s Leading Brokers survey by commercial insurance research and advisory firm Gracechurch.
Coombes, who has been a partner in Gallagher’s aviation practice since June 2019, was the runner-up in last year’s inaugural survey.
The 2021 aviation survey winner, WTW’s Martin Collins, took second place this year, with David Wilkie, aviation broker at Gallagher, rounding off the top three.
Despite not having an individual broker place in the top three, Howden was ranked third overall in aviation broking with the recognition of director of aviation Alex Robinson and divisional director Marcio Rosset.
The top five aviation broker ranking was completed with Robinson and Callum Malone, who serves as senior client specialist – aviation at Aon.
De Prins retains marine top ranking
Maxim De Prins has retained his title as top marine broker for a second year in the 2022 Gracechurch London’s Leading Brokers survey.
Having joined Lockton as senior vice president earlier this month, Gracechurch noted that De Prins appears in the rankings with Marsh, as he received the recommendations and nominations while serving at the latter’s marine and cargo group.
Despite De Prins being named market leader for marine, no other individual Marsh broker appears in the top five marine rankings.
Jeremy Jiggins, executive director of marine, energy and natural resources at Price Forbes, took the runner-up position, while Alex MacInnes-Poole, director of global marine cargo at WTW, ranked third.
Last year’s runner-up, Aon cargo leader Tom Lovett, took fourth place, with the top five list completed by Howden’s global leader of fine art and specie Barry Vickery.
Gracechurch noted in the report: “Interestingly, all of the top ranked brokers are all from different firms, showing a spread of talent.”
Gracechurch’s latest edition of the survey collected nominations and data between June 2021 and February 2022.
The firm said around 200 professionals in the London market submitted nominations for 344 individual brokers across 60 different broking firms.
