GC adds to consensus around >$5bn tornado loss as US counts costs of another severe weather outbreak

Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has said insured losses from the 10 December tornado outbreak in the US could reach the mid-single digit billions of dollars, but played down early projections of losses of $7bn or more as “aggressive”.
