Judge overturns $4.5bn Purdue settlement of opioid litigation

A federal judge has rejected Purdue Pharma’s $4.5bn settlement of thousands of lawsuits related to the OxyContin painkiller, stating it should not be allowed to proceed because it would have shielded members of the Sackler family from liability in civil opioid-related cases.
