Moody’s: (Re)insurers face claims of $9bn-$11bn from Russia’s seizing of aircraft

Global (re)insurers face potential claims of $9bn-$11bn as a result of Russian legislation which allows domestic airlines to effectively impound aircraft owned by foreign lessors, according to Moody’s, with the rating agency warning the aviation loss could be the largest direct claims event stemming from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to date.
