Aon bolsters Bermuda reinsurance capabilities with five appointments
Aon has expanded its Bermuda reinsurance platform with a raft of appointments, including the hires of Jemma Henry and Lawrence Cheng as managing directors.
Cheng had served as CUO for Acacia Holdings since 2021, and also previously worked at Peak Re.
In addition, Libby Sargent, George Burles and Sonal Ohrie have been promoted to vice president.
The addition of the five new colleagues – subject to Bermuda immigration approvals – is designed to strengthen Aon’s transactional and capital optimization solutions in Bermuda.
The expanded team will increase Aon’s on-island strength across global specialty lines of business, particularly in property specialty retrocession. It will also expedite the development of the firm’s local facultative and captive reinsurance platforms, aligned with teams in London and the US.
The team will report to James Ramamurthy, head of Global ReSpecialty, Bermuda at Aon.
Commenting on the appointments, Roman Romeo, CEO of Reinsurance Solutions Bermuda for Aon, said: “Through this scaled and highly-engaged team, we are increasing the scope of our Bermuda operations and positioning in the market as the leading destination for Aon’s Bermuda-domiciled reinsurance clients, who now have access to even more capabilities, both locally and through Aon’s global network.”
Rupert Moore, UK CEO of Reinsurance Solutions for Aon, added: “Aon’s London and New York reinsurance teams will continue to collaborate closely with our Bermuda colleagues to deliver additional value to clients.”
Aon said it will be seeking to identify further talent in the coming months to add to its operations on the island.
