Nick Frankland steps down as Aon’s STG chairman ahead of year-end exit
Nick Frankland has stepped down as chairman of Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group ahead of formally leaving the firm at the end of the year, The Insurer can reveal.
According to sources, Frankland will remain as an “Aon Ambassador” until 31 December 2023, when it has been suggested he will also leave the industry.
The executive joined Aon six years ago as CEO of its UK Reinsurance Solutions business, overseeing strong revenue growth before moving over to be chairman of the STG unit when it was launched in 2022.
Frankland is understood to have been instrumental in the formation of STG, which brings together the firm’s strategic consulting offering and technology suite to provide solutions to help drive effective use of capital among its client base.
The executive’s career has so far spanned more than four decades in the London, Bermuda and EMEA markets.
Commenting on Frankland’s upcoming exit, Aon’s CEO of risk capital Andy Marcell said: “I would like to thank Nick for his valued contribution to the success of Aon United and his dedication to the broader reinsurance industry. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Marcell, who now oversees Aon’s reinsurance and commercial risk business, had previously been Frankland’s colleague at Guy Carpenter.
Before joining Aon in April 2017, Frankland was CEO of Guy Carpenter’s EMEA business.
He had joined the Marsh McLennan-owned reinsurance intermediary in 2004, after running the London Market P&C division of RK Carvill, where he had been a director for ten years.
